“Just down the hill, and through a few alleys and you’ll be safe. Run faster you fat slob. What do they feed you in there?”

The man was panting, “If you behave, they feed you well.”

“You must have been an angel then. Cause your huge.”

          “Watch it, sister.”

“Just come on,” she continued running and the man was now next to her, running as fast as he could.

“What do I call you?” he asked, still panting.

“They call me KJ. Nothing more. Nothing less. Now RUN!”

He nodded and they ran faster and quickly made it to the safety of her alleys. She skillfully climbed and practically flew through the alleys, up and down fire escapes, and in between dumpsters. The man followed as quickly as he could behind her.

“Shh! Quick, under here,” KJ pushed him in a big hole under a dumpster and pulled it over him and hid just as a few New York cops ran down the alley with flashlights. She had jumped into a broken window and was hiding just inside, pressed up against the old wood, hoping it would support her. She held her breath as a cop flashed the light in the window, looking around.

“You sure you saw him over here?” one of the cops said to the other.

“I’m sure, Carl. I saw two black figures running down this very alley.”

“Well, they seem to have disappeared. Let’s look a few alley’s down, this place gives me the creeps.” He shuttered and started walking away, “Mike! Let’s GO!”

“Coming, coming…” Mike said as he looked questioningly around, then he walked away.

“That was too close,” KJ said as she slowly looked out and climbed down as the cops turned the corner. She pushed the dumpster out of the way and the man climbed out. She returned the dumpster to its original position and grabbed the man’s arm and pulled him through the window.
